In 2014, Team Lupus LA had their largest number of team members to date – over 190! Walkers and runners participated in both the LA Big 5K and the ASICS LA Marathon. The Rotary Club of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills High School Interact Club sponsored and participated during race weekend. On Thursday, May 8, guests gathered at the Beverly Wilshire hotel to celebrate the Orange Ball. Kristen Johnston hosted the evening and shared her own journey with lupus. Lupus LA was proud to honor EMD Serono with the Medical Visionary Award, Lupus LA Ambassadors Phill Lewis with the Loop Award, and Lannette and Scott Turicchi with the Daniel J. Wallace Founder’s Award. Guests also enjoyed a performance by Judith Hill.
On Thursday, September 18, young Hollywood supported Get Lucky for Lupus LA for its first year at the Avalon Hollywood. Guests enjoyed a celebrity poker tournament, black jack, a high-end raffle, live art, music by DJ Blake Lewis, and desserts donated by Sweet Treats Inc. On Friday, November 21 some of the most philanthropic women of Los Angeles gathered for the 12th Annual Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon at The Beverly Hilton. The day was hosted by Lupus LA Ambassador Paula Abdul. Over 230 designer handbags were donated from the closets of supporters, from designers and boutiques, and from celebrities. A few highlights included a Dolce & Gabbana bag from Reese Witherspoon and Versace bag from Selena Gomez. Guests were treated to an exclusive fashion show by Roberto Cavalli. Lupus LA was proud to honor Kathy Gallagher and Bruna Papandrea with Woman of Achievement awards.
