Why join Team Lupus LA?
Team Lupus LA has participated in the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon and LA Big 5K for the past six years. We are proud to be a part of such a special community event, as we work together to find a cure and increase awareness for lupus. Members of Team Lupus LA FUNdraise to help lupus patients in need, with the proceeds going towards our Emergency Grant Program, patient services, local fellowships, and research for a cure.
By being a member of Team Lupus LA, you will have access to fundraising tips, the chance to win special prizes, and can participate in special team events prior to race day, including a pre-race pasta dinner. Each team member will receive a Team Lupus LA t-shirt, and a Team Lupus LA Swag Bag, filled with lots of goodies for race day!
Last year we raised over $95,000, and it was because of all of our amazing team members. If you have been on our team before, we hope you will run again, and get your friends to join in. If you are hearing about Team Lupus LA for the first time, please consider joining us.
If you are not be able to run or walk in the events, we encourage you to ask your friends and family to participate on your behalf. You will be surprised at how much your friends and family want to support the cause that is so important to you.
Consider creating your own team! FUNdraising and spreading awareness is always better together.
Team Lupus LA Events
Team Lupus LA participates in all of the events at the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon:
LA BIG 5K – The 5K is 3.1 miles and runs around Dodger Stadium! This event is on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
Skechers Performance Los Angeles MARATHON – The marathon is 26.2 miles. The course starts at Dodger Stadium, runs through many iconic Los Angeles landmarks, and ends at the beautiful Santa Monica Pier. This event is on Sunday, February 14, 2016.
Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon CHARITY RELAY – Members of charity teams can enter the charity relay, which is where two partners split the marathon and run it together. One partner does the first half of the course, beginning at Dodger Stadium, and the second partner runs the last half, ending at the beautiful Santa Monica Pier. This event is on Sunday, February 14, 2016.

The price for each event is as follows:
LA BIG 5K — $40 (with a $3 processing fee)
Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon — $170 (with a $9 processing fee)
Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon Charity Relay — $275 total, or $137.50 each (with a $7.50 processing fee per person)
Registration fills up fast, so please sign up by December 18, 2015!
Each member of Team Lupus LA will make a fundraising commitment. This is dependent on the event you are running/walking in:
LA BIG 5K – $350
Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon – $650
Charity Relay – $650 per person
Fundraising commitments will be enforced. When you register for Team Lupus LA, you will be asked to sign a waiver, and to provide your credit card information, to commit to this fundraising minimum. If you have not met your fundraising commitment by March 4, 2016, your credit card will be charged for the remaining balance due.
Please note that your registration fee ($43 for the 5K, $179 for the marathon, and $145 for the charity relay) WILL count towards your fundraising goal!
There will be prizes given for different fundraising levels! We will also send out emails with fundraising tips and ideas, to make this a fun and easy process for you.
This year, our team goal is to raise $100,000. Every dollar makes a difference as we RAI$E for a cure!
After you register through CrowdRise, you can customize your page with pictures, share your story, and start inviting your friends and family to support you as you train for the big race! Your fundraising page is a great tool, so be sure to share the link!
