Medical research is one of the cornerstones of Lupus LA. To do this, we turn to the medical and scientific communities to lead the way to discovery. We believe that by finding the causes of lupus, we can find a cure.
Lupus LA supports research on the local and national levels.
Locally, Lupus LA funds rheumatology fellows at local hospitals. Each fellowship focuses specifically on patient care and lupus research. To learn more about our fellows, click here.
On a national level, Lupus LA funds novel medical research through our partner, the Lupus Research Alliance (LRA). The LRA is the country’s only nonprofit organization singularly devoted to novel research in lupus. Since founding, Lupus LA has raised over $4 million for the LRA. The LRA enables investigators to pursue bold yet sound scientific hypotheses in lupus. To learn more about the latest in LRA’s medical research, click here. In July 2015, the LRI and the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) joined forces and become one organization called the Lupus Research Alliance (LRA). To find out more about this historic merger, click here to see the official announcement letter.
